Frequently Asked Questions

Check-out is 11am. Late check-out (12pm) is not available during the summer, but may be available upon request in the off-season.

For rentals with physical keys, one set of keys will be provided. We recommend you find a good hiding place for the key if persons in your party would like to come and go separately. If you would like an additional set, a $50 deposit will apply as well as a $50 fee for each lost/stolen key.

Bella Vita does not provide daily housekeeping refreshes for our vacation rentals. Should you desire these services; arrangements can be made through our front desk for an additional fee.

Housekeeping will come for Suites between 11:00 am and 1:00pm. If you choose to not have your room refreshed, please place the “Do Not Disturb” sign on your door. Housekeeping will hang fresh towels in a bag on your door.

Each property is provided with some basic paper products (toilet paper, paper towel, ect.), hand soap, and dish soap. All bed and bath linens are provided. While we can provide a limited amount of additional linens, many properties have washer and dryer for laundering linens during your stay. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide personal toiletry items during your stay. Travel and full size items can be purchased at Bella Vita Spa on Butler Street.

Please refer to your individual property’s page for instructions to connect to the WiFi. Each property has wireless internet.

Please do not take the bath towels to the beach. Beach towels are available for purchase at many of the local merchants in town.

We request out of respect for residents and other visitors that between 10pm – 8am you keep noise in your rental and the surrounding areas to a minimum.

Smoking is not permitted in any of our rentals. It is considered as damage due to the expense we incur to remove the odor. There will be a minimum $250 charge per person for smoking inside.

We do have one property that allows small pets but requires approval. Please call us with questions 616-635-1717.

The Butler Pantry (439 Butler St) has beer, wine, cheese, crackers, chips, candy, etc…
The River Market (650 Water St) has a full deli, groceries, wine, beer & liquor.
DeMond’s Super Valu (237 Center St, Douglas) hasbeer, wine, liquor, bakery, deli, fresh produce and meat.

In the Spring & Fall, most shops and art galleries are open 7 days a week, 10am – 5pm. During the summer season, many shops & galleries have extended hours into the evening. During the winter, although some stores may close, many remain open year round, though their hours may be limited.

Taxes:  6% state tax, 2% city tax, 2% admin fee=10% total

Maintenance Needs

Our goal is to provide a well maintained property during your stay. However, just like a home, things do break unexpectedly. Please contact us during regular business hours for non-emergency maintenance needs that may arise during your stay. Urgent situations after hours should be called in immediately to 269-355-8443.

GUEST ROOM POLICIES:

While we will make every effort to honor specific room requests; we cannot guarantee specific rooms. All of our properties are non-smoking and do not allow pets. Children under the age of 16 are NOT permitted to stay at Bella Vita Suites, however, children of all ages are welcome at all of our off-site vacation rentals. Thank you for your cooperation.

Smoking is only permitted outside; smoking inside the property will result in a $250 per person cleaning fee. Damage to any property will be charged to your credit card. Please note, our off-site properties do NOT include personal toiletries or daily room refresh services.

DEPOSIT & CANCELLATION INFORMATION:

A 50% deposit will be charged to your credit card for all stays.  The balance will be charged to your credit card 14 days before your arrival.  Cancellations for properties requires a 14-30 day notice. Please see each individual property cancellation information as to the required notice needed. All holiday stays require a 30 day cancellation notice.  A $49.00 transaction charge will be applied to all canceled reservations. Cancellations must be made by phone; e-mail cancellations will not be accepted. No shows or less than the required notice will result in full charge.
